Privacy Policy

HealthConnexin, Inc. (“HealthConnexin”) takes your privacy seriously and understands how important the privacy of personal information is to our users. This Privacy Policy will tell you what information we collect about you and about your use of the Web site and its services. It will explain the choices you have about how your personal information is used and how we protect that information. We urge you to read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using this Web site, you agree, without limitation or qualification, to be bound by this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Web site. Reference to "HealthConnexin” means HealthConnexin, Inc., including any company that HealthConnexin controls (for example, a subsidiary that HealthConnexin owns). HealthConnexin may share information among its subsidiaries or web sites that it owns or controls, but it is always protected under the terms of this Privacy Policy.

While you may use some of the functionality of without registration, product and service purchases on our Web site require registration. If you browse our Web site without registering, the only information we collect will be Non-Personal Information through the use of Cookies or other technical means. If you choose to register with our Web site, we require you to submit Personally Identifiable Information. Depending on the product or service you have selected, we may also collect Personal Health Information. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the Personally Identifiable Information and Personal Health Information you submit to HealthConnexin. Inaccurate information will affect the information you receive when using our site and our ability to contact you as contemplated in this Privacy Policy.

The Web site may contain links to other sites. Once you enter another web site (whether through an advertisement, service, or content link), be aware that HealthConnexin is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. Even if you do not register with, we may collect anonymous Non-Personal Information about your use of our Web site and your use of the web sites of any selected sponsors and advertisers through the use of Cookies. Every computer that accesses is assigned a different Cookie by HealthConnexin. The information collected by Cookies (i) helps us dynamically generate advertising and content on Web pages or in communications, (ii) allows us to statistically monitor how many people are using our Web site and selected sponsors' and advertisers' sites, (iii) how many people open our emails, and (iv) for what purposes these actions are being taken. We may use Cookie information to target certain advertisements to your browser or to determine the popularity of certain content or advertisements. Cookies are also used to facilitate a user's log-in, as navigation aides and as session timers.

Most browser software can be set to reject all Cookies and offer instructions on how to reset the browser to reject Cookies in the "Help" section of the toolbar. If you reject our Cookies, certain of the functions and conveniences of our Web site may not work properly. We do not link Non-Personal Information from Cookies to Personally Identifiable Information without your permission and do not use Cookies to collect or store Personal Health Information about you.

We collect Personally Identifiable Information that you provide to us when you register as a member of and/or when you update your account information or member profile. We use the Personally Identifiable Information that you provide to respond to your questions, provide you the specific products or services you select, send you emails about Web site maintenance and updates, and inform you of significant changes to this Privacy Policy.

At registration and at various times as you use, you will be given the option of receiving informational/promotional emails from HealthConnexin and/or directly from third party partners. These emails will not contain Personal Health Information. At the time you sign up for our email communications or any time thereafter, you can choose to <Opt-In to receiving additional promotional emails from HealthConnexin. You can unsubscribe from such emails at any time by simply clicking on the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email communication. When you use a HealthConnexin "Email a Friend" tool, HealthConnexin emails the article or other content you designate to your friend's email address and identifies your email address as the sender. HealthConnexin uses the friend's email address to send your friend the particular email you requested.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to content or information that you send to HealthConnexin by email. If you want to keep such content or information, do not send an email to HealthConnexin. We try to answer every email within 48 business hours, but are not always able to do so.

As a service to our users, HealthConnexin may offer message boards, chat rooms and other public forums where users with similar interests or medical conditions can share information and support one another or where users can post questions for experts to answer. We may also offer online discussions moderated by medical or healthcare experts. Any information shared (including Personally Identifiable and Personal Health Information) that you reveal on a message board or in a public forum becomes public information. You should think carefully before disclosing any Personally Identifiable or Personal Health Information in any public forum. What you have written may be seen, disclosed to or collected by third parties and may be used by others in ways we are unable to control or predict, including to contact you for unauthorized purposes.

The HealthConnexin myPHIT™ - PERSONAL HEALTH INFORMATION TRACKER service allows you a secure place to store your Personal Health Information and provides tools and services in order to better manage your health. We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. Neither HealthConnexin nor any of its services are designed or intended to attract children under the age of 18. We do not collect Personally Identifiable Information from any person we actually know is under the age of 18. A parent or guardian, however, may use HealthConnexin’s myPHIT™ – Personal Health Information Tracker to establish a personal health record. The parent or guardian is solely responsible for providing supervision of the minor's use of myPHIT™. The parent or guardian assumes full responsibility for ensuring that the registration information is kept secure and that the information submitted is accurate. The parent or guardian also assumes full responsibility for the interpretation and use of any information or suggestions provided through myPHIT™ for the minor.

From time to time the HealthConnexin market research department, or its contractors acting on its behalf, conducts online research surveys in order to gather feedback about our site, our sponsors and opinions on important healthcare issues, through email invitations, pop-up surveys and online focus groups.

When participating in a survey, we may ask you to submit Personally Identifiable Information. This Personally Identifiable Information is used for research purposes, and is not used for sales solicitations. When a survey is sponsored by a third party, aggregate information of the survey results is reported to the sponsor. Personally Identifiable Information collected through market research will be used only by HealthConnexin and its service providers and contractors and will not be given or sold to a third party without your consent or as otherwise permitted by this Privacy Policy. For market research surveys we will not knowingly accept survey responses from or conduct interviews with any person under the age of 18.

Except as set forth in this Privacy Policy or as specifically agreed to by you, HealthConnexin will not disclose any Personally Identifiable or Personal Health Information it gathers from you on our Web site. We may only release Personally Identifiable or Personal Health Information to third parties: (1) to comply with valid legal requirements such as a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order; or (2) in special cases, such as in response to a physical threat to you or others, to protect property or defend or assert legal rights. In the event that we are legally compelled to disclose your Personally Identifiable or Personal Health Information to a third party, we will attempt to notify you unless doing so would violate the law or court order.

HealthConnexin takes the protection of your Personal Health Information seriously. Listed below are some of the security procedures that HealthConnexin uses to protect your privacy and information:

  • Requires both a unique username (email address) and a password in order for users to access their Personally Identifiable Information or Personal Health Information.
  • Uses firewalls to protect information held in our servers.
  • Utilizes Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption in transmitting Personally Identifiable Information to our servers. In order to take advantage of encryption technology, you must have an Internet browser which supports 128-bit encryption.
  • Closely monitors the limited number of HealthConnexin employees who have potential access to your Personally Identifiable Information.
  • Requires all HealthConnexin employees to abide by our Privacy Policy and to be subject to disciplinary action if they violate it.
  • Backs-up our systems to protect the integrity of your Personally Identifiable and Personal Health Information.

HealthConnexin provides additional protection for your Personal Health Information as follows:

  • Provides secure messaging within the HealthConnexin myPHIT™ service so that information related to your personal health characteristics is sent through a secure, encrypted connection.
  • Limits access to Personally Identifiable Information to authorized users. HealthConnexin enables you to have full control over who has access to your Personal Health Information. For example, you may decide to permit your physician or other health care professional access to the personal health information you maintain within our tools. This may be done using the access function within myPHIT™. Only the person who creates a record can grant access to other users.

Despite HealthConnexin efforts to protect your Personally Identifiable Information and Personal Health Information, there is always some risk that an unauthorized third party may find a way around our security systems or that transmissions of your information over the Internet may be intercepted.

Personally Identifiable Information - We will inform you if a material change to the Privacy Policy, which means a change that expands the permissible uses or disclosures of Personally Identifiable Information allowed by the prior version of the Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the HealthConnexin Web site will indicate acceptance of the changes. You may of course choose to Opt-out of continuing to use the HealthConnexin site. Please exit the site immediately if you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy or any revised policy.

Personal Health Information - We will inform you if a material change in the Privacy Policy is made that involves the use of your Personal Health Information, and your express Opt-in authorization will be requested. If you choose to not accept the new privacy policy, then the current privacy policy conditions will remain in effect, so long as HealthConnexin continues to make the functionality available. HealthConnexin reserves the right to discontinue or limit functionality in all its products.

Non-Significant Changes – HealthConnexin Health may make non-significant changes to the Privacy Policy that do no affect Personally Identifiable Information or Personal Health Information. For these instances, HealthConnexin may not notify the user of such non-significant changes.
